Norteño, banda and corridos for hire in Tijuana: live music for parties

Published October 14, 2026. Every figure has its source at the end; ZONAS counts are live.

Tijuana has a plaza built for its musicians: Plaza Santa Cecilia. Here’s how many groups ZONAS has for each genre, what they charge and where to find them.

ZONAS doesn’t sell performances or take a commission: you talk directly with the group, and the deal is between you.

Plaza Santa Cecilia

The plaza opened in 1980 on the old Calle Argüello to bring musicians together, which is why it’s named after Saint Cecilia, their patron, according to the weekly Zeta. It was founded on November 22, Musicians’ Day.

In 2015, fourteen groups took turns there around the clock: they played for visitors at the tables on the plaza and booked performances at people’s homes, Zeta reported. In 2018 the street still had mariachis, bandas and norteño groups playing in the nearby restaurants.

Tijuana has no area page on ZONAS: when we measured it, the neighboring municipalities only added 3 or 4 groups to the city’s own.
